We are reasonably certain that he is the father of our Captain Gideon Lewis, Jr., veteran of the war of 1812 and resident of the same county. Note: According to Mrs. Willie Mae Cox of Piney Creek, NC. this William Weaver was called "William the Scoundrel" because he is supposed to have sold his Ashe County land, taken another woman named Lindy Pardue, and left the county, leaving his family destitute. He supposedly settled with this new woman around Bristol, Tennessee. There are three children listed but there may have been others.
